All our members are established specialists within their fields, and have the experience and commercial standing to provide quality, cost-effective solutions for all aspects of mechanisation for bulk materials handling and storage, conveyors, dust collection and control, instrumentation, mixers, big bag handling, sampling systems, sieves, valves and weighing systems and equipment.
The IMechE is holding a Seminar at the Forest Pines hotel , Immingham
on the 19th -20th November 2014 on Large scale bulk storage and
handling. The main theme of the seminar being the new import facility at
Immingham.
As the UK continues to push its renewable energy
policy, the demand on imported bulk materials such as coal and wood
pellets is growing and the pressure to handle and store such materials
safely is a priority for the whole sector.
Alongside the need to
respond to this increasing demand is the requirement to ensure that
large quantities of bulk materials are delivered efficiently. The Port
of Immingham handles up to 55 million tonnes making it the UK’s largest
port in terms of tonnage. Within that figure coal accounts for 10
million tonnes of the overall solid bulk handled annually.
Given
the unpredictability of certain materials and their riskier properties,
a greater awareness is being generated to reduce the risks to health
when handling materials such as biomass. Coupled with the construction
of larger storage facilities is the need to implement technology that
will reduce human interface in this particular supply chain.
